Frequently Asked Questions

  • Working with me is a collaborative, conversational, and completely non-judgemental process. I don't believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach to therapy. Instead, I blend evidence-based psychological therapies with genuine warmth and empathy. Sessions are paced entirely around your comfort level—sometimes that means gently challenging you to grow, and other times it simply means providing a safe, quiet space for you to process a difficult week.

  • No, you do not need a referral to book an appointment. You are welcome to self-refer and pay privately. However, if you wish to claim a Medicare rebate (approximately $98.95 per session), you will need to obtain a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and a referral letter from your GP before our first session.

  • Fees for a 50 minute session are $230. (The current AAPi and APS recommended fee is $300 per hour). After-hours appointments will incur a $15 surcharge.

If you have a valid MHCP from your GP, you are eligible to receive a Medicare rebate of $98.95 for up to 10 appointments per calendar year (January – December).

Payments and Medicare rebates are processed electronically and automatically on the day.

*Fees correct as of March 2026.

  • Please provide as much notice as you can for cancellations. You are required to provide a minimum of 48 hours' notice when cancelling an appointment. This is to ensure other clients on the waitlist can be seen. Less than 48 hours’ notice is a $100 fee. A same-day cancellation or non-attendance is the full session fee. Cancellation fees are not eligible for Medicare or private health rebates.

I understand that life can be unpredictable, and changes in capacity or unexpected situations can make it hard to attend an appointment. If this happens, please contact me as soon as you can. I recognise that there are times when things feel out of your control, and I aim to respond with understanding and flexibility wherever possible.

  • In the first session, the focus is getting to know you. I want to know about your life, what has brought you to therapy, and what feels important right now. We’ll go at a pace that feels comfortable, and you’re always welcome to ask questions.

I may ask some questions to guide the conversation, but there’s no pressure to share anything before you’re ready.

Towards the end of the session, we’ll establish your goals for therapy and I’ll share my thoughts on a treatment plan. My aim is to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and able to show up exactly as you are.

  • The easiest way to get started is to reach out and schedule a complimentary 15-minute initial consultation. This brief phone call gives us a chance to discuss what you are looking for, answer any questions you have about the process, and make sure my approach is the right fit for your needs before booking your first full session.

  • You can reach me via the Contact page on this website or by email at admin@groundandgrowpsychology.com.au. All messages and conversations are strictly confidential.
